SUSAN
BOE has been practicing law since 1985 and joined the firm
in 2010 as “of counsel.” She formerly was a partner at an international
law firm headquartered in Minneapolis where she was a member of the banking
and finance group. She also has been general counsel of a large real estate
firm and assistant general counsel of a public insurance company.
Ms. Boe has experience in commercial and residential real estate, land development,
banking, private and public finance, estate planning and probate, general
corporate, small business formation/counseling and copyright and media law.
For several years she taught media/communications law in the journalism department
at the University of New Mexico and media ethics at the journalism graduate
school at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She also has given photography
law and art law seminars to various groups in the Santa Fe area.
Ms. Boe is a science journalism graduate of Iowa State University and before
entering law school in 1982 worked for a number of years as a journalist at
daily newspapers in Texas and as a public information officer for Ohio State
University and the University of Texas. She received her law degree with highest
distinction from the University of Iowa where she was elected to the Order
of the Coif. She is admitted to practice law in Minnesota, Iowa and New Mexico.
Married and the mother of two adult sons and two adult stepsons, Ms. Boe is
an avid photographer and enjoys reading, bicycling, cross-country skiing and
hiking. She was president of the board of directors of the Youth Shelters
in Santa Fe, has been a board member and officer of homeowners associations
in the City Different and twice received the Pro Bono Award from the Iowa
State Bar Association in recognition for her volunteer legal services to the
homeless and the office of the Iowa Attorney General.
